Panchagarh Correspondent: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained 11 individuals, including women and a child, who were pushed into Bangladesh from India by the Border Security Force (BSF) through different border points in Panchagarh. The detained persons are Taslima Khatun (40) from Bagbati village, Kaliganj upazila, Satkhira ; Marjina (40) from Chitla village, Kolaroa upazila, Satkhira ; Nirufa Begum (40) from Shukra village, Kalia upazila, Narail ; Sajida Khatun (40) from Rajapur village, Sharsha upazila, Jashore ; Zahidul Islam (40) from Atroshi village, Sadar upazila, Faridpur ; Faizan Sheikh (10) from the same village ; Omar Faruk (37) from Domnakanti village, Shyambag upazila, Noakhali ; Meem Akter (22) from Madanpur village, Bandar upazila, Narayanganj ; Shahnaz (34) from Chourapara village, Sonargaon upazila ; Tania (35) from Balapurer Char village, Madhabdi upazila, Narsingdi ; Aleya (70) from Baundanga village, Terokhada upazila, Khulna.
On Saturday (May 17), the acting commander of the Nilphamari-56 BGB Battalion, Riyad Murshed, confirmed the matter. Earlier, between late Friday night (May 16) and Saturday afternoon, the individuals were pushed into Bangladesh through the Malkadanga area of Barashashi Union and the Danakata border area of Kajoldighi-Kaliaganj Union under Boda Upazila in Panchagarh district. It has been confirmed that all the detainees are Bangladeshi citizens.
According to BGB, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 11 individuals into Bangladesh through the Malkadanga and Danakata border areas of Boda Upazila in Panchagarh. Locals noticed them wandering near the border and informed the nearby BGB camp. BGB personnel then detained them. During questioning at the camp, the detainees stated that they had been living and working illegally inside India for a long time. They further revealed that on May 2, Indian police detained them in Mumbai. After keeping them in custody until May 17, the Indian authorities flew a total of 125 Bangladeshi nationals to Siliguri Airport. Among them, 11 were later pushed into Panchagarh by the BSF. Meanwhile, the detainees have been handed over to Boda Police Station, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Acting Commander of Nilphamari-56 BGB Battalion, Riad Murshed, said that the BGB remains vigilant in protecting the border. Regular operations are being carried out to prevent illegal intrusion and all forms of cross-border crimes.
