Former Mayor Ivy ordered to be shown arrested in two additional cases

Narayanganj Correspondent: Former Mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy, who was earlier arrested in the Minarul murder case filed at Siddhirganj Police Station in connection with the anti-discrimination movement, has now been ordered by the court to be shown arrested in two more cases. At the time of the hearing, Ivy was virtually connected from jail. The order was issued on Saturday afternoon by Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Islam Chowdhury's court.

Inspector Md. Kaiyum Khan of Narayanganj Court Police confirmed that, after the hearing, the court directed that Ivy be shown arrested in two cases under Siddhirganj Police Station. She was not physically produced in court but appeared virtually from prison.

Ivy’s lawyer, Awlad Hossain, stated that she had already been arrested in the Minarul murder case. The state counsel requested that she be shown arrested in two additional cases. He added, “We have also appealed for showing her arrested in five more cases filed in various police stations. Unless all these show-arrest procedures are completed, we cannot take further legal action.”

It is worth mentioning that Ivy was arrested by police early in the morning on May 9. Later, Senior Judicial Magistrate Mainuddin Kader ordered her to be sent to jail. On May 12, her bail plea was rejected by the court.
