Awami League leaders and activists clash with prisoners in Pabna Prison!

Pabna Correspondent:  Allegations have been made against leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliates for verbal altercations and scuffles with other prisoners in the Pabna prison. 

Five accused in this incident were transferred to another district jail on Tuesday (March 4) as punishment.

They are - District Awami League Information and Research Secretary Toufiq Imam Khan, District Jubo League Convening Committee member Sheikh Lalu, former Gayeshpur Union Parishad Chairman and Awami League leader Motahar Hossain Mutai and Asaduzzaman Sweet. They are accused in the case of attack and murder during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Pabna District Jail Superintendent Md. Omar Faruk said that they had been misbehaving with other general prisoners in the jail for a few days. Finally, on the afternoon of March 3, these five prisoners misbehaved with other prisoners in the jail and got into a verbal altercation. At one stage, they raised their hands on them. Later, prisoners Toufiq Imam, Sheikh Lalu and Asaduzzaman Sweet were transferred to Rajshahi and Mutai and others to Naogaon District Jail as punishment.

The jail superintendent also said that in the past, they were talking and walking recklessly outside, just as they had been doing in the prison. As a result, trouble broke out. They were transferred to Rajshahi and Naogaon prisons on the afternoon of March 4 on charges of misbehaving with other prisoners and creating chaos in the prison.
