Price of 12 kg LPG cylinder reduced by Tk 28

Economy Desk: The price of a 12-kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level has been reduced by Tk 28. The price has been reduced by Tk 28 and set at Tk 1,450 for the month of March.

In February, the price of a 12-kg cylinder was 1,478 taka. Even earlier, in January, the price was 1,459 taka.

In addition, the price of a 5.5 kg cylinder is 664 taka, 12.5 kg is 1,510 taka, 15 kg is 1,812 taka, 16 kg is 1,933 taka, 18 kg is 2,175 taka, 20 kg is 2,416 taka, 22 kg is 2,658 taka, 25 kg is 3,020 taka, 30 kg is 3,624 taka, 33 kg is 3,987 taka, 35 kg is 4,228 taka and 45 kg is 5,436 taka.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the new price at a press conference at the agency's office on Monday (March 3) at 3 pm.

The new rates will be effective from 6 pm today, it was announced at the press conference.

BERC has been determining the price of LPG since April 2021. Propane and butane, the main ingredients used to make LPG, are imported from various countries.

The price of these two components of LPG is published every month by Saudi Aramco. It is known as the Saudi Cargo Price (CP). BERC adjusts the price of LPG in the country using this Saudi CP as the base price. BERC calculates the dollar price for the entire month by averaging the invoice price of the importing company.
