Panchagarh Correspondent: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we have a large number of people in a small country. We all want to live together. Our pride, beauty, and peace lie in this. We are giving this message to the countrymen. Our clear statement is that we do not accept any majority or minority in this country. He said this as the chief guest at a public meeting organized by the District Jamaat-e-Islami at the Panchagarh Sugar Mill Ground on Wednesday (February 26) afternoon.
At that time, he also said, "There can be no distinction between people on the basis of minority and majority. Anyone born in this country is a proud citizen of this country. We are not in favor of dividing citizens on the basis of division, religion or party. This was done by the corrupt dictatorships of the past. They divided the nation into pieces and put them face to face."
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, the people of a country whose people cannot remain united cannot stand in the world court with their heads held high and respect. 54 years of independence have passed, how many more years will we be kept in pieces? Our clear declaration is - we do not accept any majority or minority. We are all unity. We are one nation, our identity is Bangladeshi. But yes, of course our ethnic identity will be like this - I am a Muslim, he is a Hindu or a Christian or a Buddhist. We are in favor of taking everyone along. But this is also true - no one should poke fun at anyone's religion. We absolutely hate and dislike this.
At the end of his speech, he called on everyone to stand by him in the work of building the country. He wanted a little love and support in everyone's hearts. Later, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman left for Domar, Nilphamari, after exchanging views with local women members and dignitaries at Panchagarh Circuit House.
The public meeting, chaired by Panchagarh District Jamaat Ameer Professor Iqbal Hossain, was addressed by Jamaat Central Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Working Committee Member Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal, JAGPA President Barrister Tasmia Pradhan, former Central President of Chhatra Shibir Delwar Hossain Sayedee, Thakurgaon District Jamaat Ameer Professor Belal Uddin Pradhan, Thakurgaon District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abdul Hakim, Nilphamari District Jamaat Ameer Principal Abdus Sattar, Jamaat leader Barrister Mahmud Al Mamun Himu, Tofail Pradhan, Panchagarh District Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Coordinator Fazle Rabbi, Panchagarh District Khelafat Majlis President Mir Morshed Tuhin, Bangladesh Development Party President Masudur Rahman, and others.
