‎Diplomatic Correspondent: India has reiterated its desire to maintain positive, constructive and forward-looking relations with Bangladesh, emphasizing mutual interests and reciprocity as the basis of bilateral ties.

‎In remarks responding to recent statements by the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry, India said its position remains focused on building relations based on mutual respect, shared interests and reciprocity.
‎“India desires positive, constructive and forward-looking relations with Bangladesh based on mutuality of interests and reciprocity,” the statement said.

‎On remarks made at a recent press conference by Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister, India said its position “needs no repetition,” indicating that New Delhi stands by its previously stated position on the matter.

‎Regarding Bangladesh’s requests for the extradition of individuals from India, New Delhi reiterated that such requests are being considered through established procedures.
‎
‎“On the issue of extraditions, our consistent position has been that these requests are being examined as part of our established processes,” the statement added.

‎The remarks come amid continued diplomatic discussions between India and Bangladesh on a range of bilateral issues. New Delhi’s latest position signals its stated preference for maintaining a constructive engagement with Dhaka while addressing outstanding matters through established diplomatic and legal mechanisms.
