Patuakhali Correspondent: Emon, Jumman, Russell, Hridoy, Azizul, and Kawsar have set up Jamdani sari factories in the Itbaria area of Galachipa Upazila Sadar Union of Patuakhali district with the inspiration of Rubel Hasan Babu. They have become sari weavers by working hard in a Jamdani sari factory in Narayanganj for 4 long years. All of them live in Kachuria village of Nandail Upazila of Kishoreganj district.

It is known from the analysis of history that after the independence of Bangladesh, financial help was given to the weavers of Jamdani village in Demra of Dhaka. However, due to a lack of talent and remuneration, weavers do not want to come to this profession at present. Jamdani Palli was established in Mirpur, Dhaka a few years ago. There is still a demand for jamdani on various occasions. Due to the high price and huge demand for jamdani in the current market, this industry in Bangladesh has gained new momentum. According to locals, Emon's brother-in-law, a resident of the Itbaria area of Galachipa Upazila, is the main artisan of the Jamdani factory. Thanks to him, they set up a factory to make Jamdani sari in this area. He started his factory journey only 5 months ago. These small artisans can make 3 saris 6 days a week except Friday.

The profit from selling the produced sari is 600-700 taka. Factory owner Rubel Hossain Babu said, “I am getting married at Mymensingh police station. My sister-in-law used to work in a Jamdani sari factory in Dhaka. My sister-in-law said, I will work for myself and not for other moneylenders. I had a small cow house and started a Jamdani sari factory right there, ”said Emon, a sari weaver.“ I can make 3 saris in 2 weeks. The price of 1 sari is 5000 rupees. If I send 6 saris to Dhaka, I get 30 thousand rupees. If I make a sari, I pay the employees one thousand rupees.

A total of 6 employees work in the factory and I pay them 6,000 takas a month. All in all, the monthly income is 5 to 6 thousand rupees. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashish Kumar said, "It is definitely a good initiative." Craftsmen will be made by training more people if necessary.

Besides, the rich people of the area should come forward in this regard. Government assistance will be provided if necessary to increase production and scope.
