The Tigers will have to play the second match without him due to a left thigh injury sustained on the second day of the first Test. Not only Shakib, left-arm opener Sadman Islam was also dropped from the second Test.

A statement issued by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on the eve of today's (Wednesday) match said Sadman, 25, will not be able to play in the Dhaka Test. He is now out of the bio-bubble but will remain under the constant supervision of the BCB's medical team.

While fielding on the fourth day of the Chittagong Test, Sadman fell badly and got pain in his buttocks. So he is being kept out of the team for the second Test.
