IT Desk: Nowadays everyone is very active online. Sharing pictures, videos or various posts through social media. Sharing with virtual friends whenever you want. But do you know, sharing these pictures and videos of you can also be dangerous.

Actually when a digital image is clicked, its Exif details are present in it. EXIF or Exif in full is Interchangeable Image File Format. This is an ideal way to store metadata in digital images. This data is automatically saved in the image properties when the photo is clicked. It contains many types of details like resolution, color space, file size, date, time, location, aperture, ISO, shutter speed, device name and exposure level etc.

In such a situation, one can delete all this data before sending it. If the image is shared nearby or sent as a file, this data will also be shared with the other person. Especially when and where the photo was taken. This data can sometimes become a source of spying for someone.

Regular photo sharing via an app like WhatsApp does not involve data transfer. Let's know how to delete this data-

  • For this you have to go to the phone gallery and select the photo from which you want to delete this data.
  •
  • Then go through the options available for that image in the description.
  •
  • Here you will find edit option.
  •
  • You can edit or delete data here.
  •
  • Then just save it.

One can also remove location permission from camera app by going to settings. With this, saving location details on photos will be stopped forever. For this reason, after selecting the photo on the iPhone, after going to its options, you will get the option to adjust the date-time and location.
