The administration is on the side of helpless Shafiqul in Ulipur

Kurigram Correspondent: Poor Shafiqul Islam (35) was doing some kind of daily life with his wife and children in the family of Anona Onton. After getting the news of his helplessness, the upazila administration, the police and the municipal mayor jointly stood by.

Last Sunday afternoon, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ataur Rahman, Municipal Mayor Mamun Sarkar Mithu, Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mortuza went to Shafikul's house. At this time, he was given 30 kg of rice, 2 liters of soybean oil, 1 kg of dal, 2 kg of potatoes, 1 kg of onion, pepper, soap and 3 thousand taka in cash.

Shafikul House is in Naodanga Mazhirvita area of ​​West Ulipur Municipality of Kurigram. He lives with his wife Achima Begum and two children Ashiq (10) and Alif (3). Due to Shafiqul's kindness, he adopted a daughter who died last Thursday. Policeman AKM Mahmudul Hasan adopted the child.

Shafiqul Islam told reporters that he has no land. I am living with my wife and children by somehow making a tin shed on someone else's 2nd century land. Physical condition is not very good, most of the time sick, income has stopped. With his wife and two children, he spends his days without food. The elder son Ashiq studied in a madrasa and the masters gave everything there for free. 

He also said, I could not take care of two boys. In this last Thursday my wife gave birth to a daughter. Later, a distant childless relative took over the care of my newborn daughter. Sirs were coming after hearing about my problem. Helped a lot. It has helped me a lot.

Some local residents said that Shafiqul is very helpless. A few months ago, due to paralysis, the income stopped. UNO, Mayor and police station OC sir were coming after getting the news. They have helped a lot. At that time, they demanded Shafiqul's permanent settlement.

In this regard, Municipal Mayor Mamun Sarkar Mithu said, the family is very helpless. A plan has been taken by the municipality to open a grocery business next to the shelter to make him self-reliant.

Ulipur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Ataur Rahman said that since Shafiqul is landless and homeless, he will be allotted a sheltered house to live with his wife and children.
