442 patrol teams of RAB and 161 platoon of BGB have been deployed across the country in view of the strike.

News Desk:  442 patrol teams of RAB have been deployed across the country today to maintain law and order situation due to strike by BNP and like-minded parties. Among them, 146 teams are deployed in the capital. Apart from this, 161 platoons of BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) have been deployed across the country. Among them, 22 platoons of BGB have been deployed in Dhaka and surrounding districts.

On Thursday, RAB's Law and Media Branch Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin and BGB Public Relations Officer. Shariful Islam confirmed this information. Commander Khandaker Al Moin said that RAB is escorting long-distance public transport and cargo transport to the destination safely in different parts of the country to provide security for passenger and goods transport.

Besides, detectives have continued surveillance in disguise at important places including bus stand, railway station to prevent any kind of vandalism and violence. The 24-hour hartal of opposition parties including BNP has started across the country from six o'clock this morning. Earlier, a 24-hour blockade program was held across the country from 6 am on Wednesday. The strike began shortly after the six o'clock curfew ended on Thursday.

The program has been given to demand the resignation of the government, elections under a non-partisan government and the release of arrested activists including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and stop harassment. On October 29, BNP went on a morning-evening strike across the country to protest against the grand rally held in Dhaka on October 28. Since then, the party is giving continuous blockade program except on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday.

Between October 29 and November 19 and 20, the party held a hartal program. According to the information given by BNP, more than 17 thousand 10 activists have been arrested since four-five days before the mass meeting on October 28 till yesterday afternoon. At this time, more than 435 cases have been filed against party leaders and workers across the country.
