BNP mass rally in Dhaka on December 30

News desk: In response to Awami League's request, BNP suspended the mass rally in Dhaka on December 24. The new date of the rally has been announced. BNP will hold this rally in Dhaka on December 30 instead of December 24. However, there will be a nationwide mass rally outside Dhaka on December 24.

Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the party's standing committee, announced this at a press conference organized at the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan on Saturday (December 17).

He said, BNP does not want conflict. Want to resolve the conflict through peaceful means. Want to solve the problem. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader called for postponing our program as they have council on December 24. We want to behave politically on behalf of our party. For this reason, we are rearranging the pre-announced program in the light of 10 points.

He also said that since Awami League council will be held in Dhaka, in that case we will not hold mass march in Dhaka on December 24. The program will continue throughout the country except Dhaka. BNP will hold mass rally on 30th instead of 24th in Dhaka.

Nazrul Islam Khan said, December 30 is important to remind the people of our democratic struggle against the unelected government. On this day in 2018, this government came to power by voting at night. That's why we will continue our struggle in the light of 10 points in Dhaka city on December 30 and demanding the resignation of the corrupt, anti-people government, the abolition of the parliament, and a non-partisan neutral government.

He said, except for Dhaka, I will request the leaders of the entire country to make the 24 December mass march a success. And let this mass march of 30th December in Dhaka city be successful. Many political parties of the country have joined this fight. They want democracy, they want people's elected rule, they also want an end to tyranny, they want an end to looting. Many of them are announcing the same program. In the coming days we can bring down this government through simultaneous agitation.

In response to the question whether he will go or not if the council is invited by Awami League, he said that in politics there is no actual discussion. If invited then it will be discussed in the group. Then a decision will be made.

Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, a member of the party's standing committee, announced the 10-point demand at the Dhaka divisional meeting of the BNP held at Golapbag ground in the capital on December 10. Based on these 10 points, the BNP and like-minded parties will hold a simultaneous movement in the future. On that day, on December 24, mass march program was announced across the country including Dhaka.

On December 10, the BNP announced a simultaneous movement to topple the government from a rally at Golapbagh in Dhaka. A mass march was announced on 24 December as the first program of the simultaneous movement. After that Awami League requested to change the date of program of BNP. Because, on that day (December 24) the central conference of Awami League will be held in Dhaka. After that, the date of the new mass rally was announced by BNP.
