Defeated power of 1971 is becoming active again: Obaidul Quader

News Desk: General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that the defeated forces of 1971 are becoming active again.

He said that the sentence of several convicts sentenced to death in the murder of intellectuals could not be executed even after nine years because they were absconding, but there is no lack of goodwill and sincerity of the government to bring them back and execute the judgment.

He said this after paying tribute to the sun children of the nation at Rayerbazar Slaughterhouse in the capital on Wednesday (December 14) on Martyr Intellectuals Day.

Obaidul Quader said that the process of bringing back the accused who are outside the country is underway. There is no lack of goodwill and sincerity on the part of the government. There are many legal hurdles abroad. Still, we are not lacking in efforts. We are trying to bring them back to the country soon. Some progress has also been made. Hopefully, we can complete this process quickly.

The bridge minister said that Pakistani forces, their allies were defeated in 1971 but have become active again to avenge that defeat. Our commitment today is to stop this evil power in the spirit of the liberation war and the ideals of independence, the communal humanity of this Bengal.

Obaidul Quader said that on December 10, the Pakistani invasion forces formulated a blueprint for the killing of intellectuals. On this day they took the best children of the nation and started killing them. The biggest incident happened last December 14. On this day, the Pakistani occupation forces disappeared and killed the best children of the nation.

At that time, other leaders and activists of Awami League were present.
