Housewife commits suicide out of pride over her husband in Chatmohar

Tofazzal Hossain Babu, Pabna: A housewife named Monira Khatun (28) committed suicide in Bejpatiata village of Handyal Union in Chatmohar, Pabna. On Wednesday (October 5) in the middle of the night, she committed suicide by wrapping her veil around her neck and hanging herself from a box in her bedroom. Monira is the wife of Rasel Hossain of that village. According to local sources, Russell married Monira Khatun of Shahjadpur area about 10 years ago. Russell lives in Dhaka for livelihood. Monira had an argument with her husband on the phone last Wednesday when she asked her husband for money on her mobile phone for the expenses of running the family. Later in the middle of the night, Monira committed suicide by wrapping her veil around her neck and hanging herself from the bedroom door. Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jalal Uddin said, initially, it is believed that the suicide occurred out of pride towards her husband. The body was recovered on Thursday and sent to Pabna Hospital Morgue for post-mortem. A UD case has been filed in this regard.
