Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Lalmonirhat: The leaders of Kaliganj Upazila Chhatra League held a press conference accusing the OC ATM Golam Rasul of Kaliganj police station of calling a worker of Chhatra League to the police station and framing him with torture and drug case. The press conference was held on Saturday (September 3) at 8:30 pm organized by Kaliganj Upazila Chhatra League. At the press conference BCL leaders claimed that a BCL activist named Mizanur Rahman was called to the police station for taking an active part in the BCL on the National Mourning Day on August 15 and was arrested in a torture and drug case by OC ATM Golam Rasul of Kaliganj police station. The Chhatra League leader, the victim, said that if the OC is not prosecuted in this incident, he will commit suicide. At the same time, Sajib Mahbub Melvin, Joint Secretary of Lalmonirhat District Chhatra League, demanded a dope test to find out whether the OC consumes drugs or not. Earlier that day on Saturday evening, when BCL leaders and activists called for a protest rally against the incident of OC, the police barricaded BCL leaders and activists with batons. Later, unable to protest, BCL leaders and activists held a press conference. Lalmonirhat District Chhatra League General Secretary Arif Islam said, We have heard about the torture of Chhatra League workers. A decision will be taken after investigation and discussion with central and district leaders.
