One shot dead in A-League-BNP clash in Thakurgaon: Fire at BNP office

Thakurgaon Correspondent: There was a clash between Awami League and BNP in Ruhia of Thakurgaon. In this, 10 people including journalists were injured and a young man named Mahin (22) was shot. The BNP leaders alleged that the leaders and workers of the ruling party vandalized the BNP office of Ruhia police station and set it on fire. On Saturday afternoon, this clash took place on the same day on the same day as Ruhia Thana BNP's widow program and Thana Mahila Awami League's program. According to eyewitnesses, there was a chase between the Ruhia A-League and BNP leaders and activists with local weapons in various streets of Ruhia police station area and throwing of bricks. District BNP Joint General Secretary Ansarul Islam and some others were injured in this. Some motorcycles and shops were vandalized and two motorcycles were set on fire. District BNP President Taimur Rahman said that when our leaders and activists came to the meeting place from different places, Awami League workers beat them up. They set fire to our conference hall, ransacked the office and set fire to the office as well. Many of our BNP leaders have injured workers. President of Sadar Upazila Awami League Arunanshu Dutta Tito said that Thana Mahila Awami League called for programs in a peaceful environment. All of a sudden BNP activists attacked MP Ramesh Chandra Sen's house. Meanwhile, they beat up a journalist. Later, when our boys came forward, they beat up our boys and ran away. They vandalized 4/5 of our cars. Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ruhia Police Station Sohel Rana said that two parties called the meeting at the same time. The two parties were told two times by the administration. However, appearing at the same time, they got involved in this unpleasant incident.
