Strict action will be taken if anyone tampers with fertiliser: Bogra District Commissioner

Sanju Roy, Bogra: Bogra District Commissioner Md Ziaul Haque said that Bogra has enough stock of fertilizer where there is no chance of crisis. But if unscrupulous circles or fertilizer traders manipulate or try to create artificial crisis, strict action will be taken against them. Not only that, it will also be recommended to cancel the dealer license of those fertilizer dealers. He also said that fertilizer market is being monitored daily on behalf of Bogra district administration. So he urged everyone to be aware of this issue. The Deputy Commissioner said the above in a press briefing about the overall status of fertilizer extraction, distribution and stocking situation in Bogra district held at the conference room of Bogra District Commissioner's office on Monday morning. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Masum Ali Beg presided over the press briefing, Deputy Director of Bogra Agriculture Extension Department Dulal Hossain said that the total cultivated land in Bogra is 2 lakh 24 thousand 830 hectares. Out of this, against the target of 1 lakh 82 thousand 950 hectares of land, it is expected that 100 percent of the land will be cultivated within the next week. About 75 percent of the planted land is being applied with urea fertilizer. He said that in the current year, the cultivation of vegetables and chillies is high and due to drought, due to supplementary irrigation, due to simultaneous planting of Ropa Aman paddy, the farmers in Bogra need more fertilizers, but sufficient allocation has been given as per the demand. Also, additional 2 thousand metric tons of urea fertilizer allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture is provided to each upazila of Bogra. Along with this, the district and upazila administration continued the campaign of mobile court to prevent the black market of fertilizer and to ensure the fixed price of the government. Dulal Hossain also said that fertilizer distribution program is ongoing among the farmers in Bogra. Also, at present, the district has reserves of 1 thousand 205 million tons of urea fertilizer, 890 million tons of TSP, 570 million tons of MOP and 1 thousand 956 million tons of fertilizers. In the speech of the special guest at the meeting, District Superintendent of Police Sudeep Kumar Chakraborty BPM said that in order to ensure the fixed price of fertilizer in Bogra and to stop the fertilizer syndicate, the various mobile court operations of the district administration are ongoing as well as the surveillance of various police units. He said that Bogra has sufficient stock of fertilizers so there is no reason for farmers to panic about fertilizers. Executive Magistrate Gazi Muidur Rahman, Fertilizer Dealers Association General Secretary Alamgir Hossain and various fertilizer dealers and sellers of the district along with journalists and related persons were present in the meeting.
