Citizen training to raise awareness among citizens on countering extremism

Ramzan Ali, Satkania (Chittagong): Under the initiative of "Peace" project, The Asia Foundation organized a community policing forum on Monday (August 8) at Three-Star Hall and Community Center in Satkania Upazila from 10 am to 5 pm. 24 CPF members from Dhemsha, Khagria, Bazalia, Dharmapur Union Committees of Satkania Upazila were present, and trained the members on Community Policing Forum and Extremism and Violent Extremism. Additional Superintendent of Police Satkania Circle Md Shibli Noman was present as the inaugural function Shabnam Mostari Training and Implementation Officer, Md. Nasir Uddin Program Officer and Al-Amin Upazila Coordinator were present on behalf of The Asia Foundation. At that time, the speakers said that the community policing system established to prevent social crimes and disorder in the area is working well in controlling law and order. Community policing activities will play a special role in combating militancy and terrorism as there is an opportunity to work with the police to prevent various problems and crimes. This policing system is a joint effort of the people and the police The information should be reported to the police station with a view to various types of crimes including drug dealing or misdemeanors of militants.
