Kurigram Correspondent: At least 20,000 people have been stranded in Kurigram due to rising river water in the second phase. As the flood waters receded in the first phase, the suffering of the people increased in the second phase. Roads and ghats in these areas have been submerged and the transportation system has collapsed. On the other hand, the farmers of the char areas have suffered extreme losses due to two consecutive floods. Amjad Hossain of Char Sabujpara area of ​​Bhogdanga union of Sadar upazila said that the houses damaged in the first phase of flood have not been repaired yet. In the meanwhile, the catchment water has increased again and has entered the houses. I'm in trouble too. Saharat Ali of Porarchar in Sadar's Jatrapur Union said the people of this char have suffered the most in the last floods. The water rose up to the rice of every house. Water again in three / four days after the water recedes. No work at hand. Wife, I am very scared of the baby. Saidur Rahman, chairman of Bhogdanga Union Parishad of Sadar upazila, said at least more than 6,000 people in the Dharla basin in my union were stranded in the second phase. A search of the adjoining Panchgachhi and Holokhana unions, as well as in the Dharla and Dudhkumar basin unions, revealed that at least 20,000 people had been newly affected by the floods. According to the district administration office, work is underway to determine the number of people trapped in the water due to the increase in water in the second phase. Abdullah Al Mamun, executive engineer of the Kurigram Water Development Board, said heavy rains in the upper reaches had caused flooding in Kurigram due to rising water levels in Dharla and Dudhkumar. Due to low water downstream, river water has started declining.
