Hundreds of affected Hindu families in Narail

Narail Correspondent: A retired army officer is occupying the agricultural land of the Hindu community at night with the help of identified terrorists in the area. Hundreds of farming families in the area are spending the night in panic. Such inhuman incidents are happening in Beel Balicha of Mauli village in Mauli union of Kalia upazila of Narail. In protest, farmers staged a sit-in at 11 a.m. on Thursday (May 28) at the cut-off point of the Union Beel Balichar Beel. Hundreds of farmers from the area took part in the human chain. Former member of Mauli UP Tapan Kumar Hajra, current member Ashesh Sikder, female member Aina Begum, farmer Akram Mollah, Kamal Mandal, Mitul Biswas, SM Bayezid Hossain, Amaresh Biswas, Subodh Biswas and others spoke on the occasion. The allies demanded appropriate punishment by arresting the identified terrorists in the area. It is learned that the name of the retired army officer is Md. Saiful Islam. His home is in Mymensingh. He married the daughter of Oliar Mollah of Madhya Para in Kumri village next door. After retiring, he built a house in Mauli village on the basis of kinship. He does not live there. There are people to take care of the house. The father-in-law plans to encircle the area. Chosen Kumri, Mauli and some identified terrorists from Shukta village. The people of the area know them as terror. As evening approaches, the farmers of the area are terrified. They are Rob Mollah, 45, son of Oliyar Mollah of Kumri village, Ashraf Khan, son of Fasiyar Khan, Morful Khan, Rakibul Khan, Ayub Hossain Sardar of Mauli village, Elahi Sardar of Shukta village. Apart from various allegations, there are cases against them. Farmer SM Bayezid Hossain said retired Brigadier General Mohammad Saiful Islam, son-in-law of Kumri village, along with some identified terrorists from the area, occupied about 200 acres of agricultural land at night and started cutting the fence. He said most of the land belongs to the Hindu community. When the farmers tried to stop them, the terrorists came running. Later, they lodged a written complaint with the chairman of the union, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and the police station. Later, the villagers rallied in protest and the terrorists went on strike. Subodh Biswas, a farmer from Shukta village, said it was like an army officer encircling a Hindu farmland. He is acting illegally as a law man. Where are we going now? Who do I ask for justice? He wished the Prime Minister a kind look in an emotional voice. Old farmer Amaresh Biswas said, "We are living with our sons and daughters growing crops in that land." He is occupying that land and cutting the fence. Didn't you hear me? Without buying land? "There is no one to see me," he cried. He addressed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as mother and said, "Mother, save us." Where will we leave the country. Aina Begum, a woman member of the Mauli Union, said the perpetrator was a retired high-ranking army officer. He doesn't live here. He is occupying the agricultural lands of these poor Hindus with some identified terrorists in the area. He does not live in the house he has built here. People are left to look after the house. He said that he got so much courage because the people of Kumri village's father-in-law's clan were influential. We want justice. Rosie Haque, chairman of the Mauli Union, said such allegations had been made. I have informed the matter to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. Retired Brigadier General Mohammad Saiful Islam could not be reached for comment. Kalia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ariful Islambalen said that the matter is being investigated after receiving such allegations. Legal action will be taken if the incident is found to be true.
