Sports Desk: Two days ago, Ismail Haider Mallick, Member Secretary of the Governing Council, BCB Director, briefed the media on the latest preparations and various aspects of organizing the eighth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

At one stage he mentioned the prize money of BPL. Ismail Haider Mallick, member secretary of the BPL Governing Council, said the prize for the BPL champion team was Tk 1 crore. The runner-up team will get a prize of 50 lakh rupees. Everyone was surprised to hear this number of BPL prize money. Various criticisms have been made. Because, every franchisee has to deposit four crore rupees with BCB to get a team.

After that, team framing, coaching panel, tournament management - all together will cost at least 7-8 crore rupees for each franchise. However, the champion team will get only 1 crore! Runner-up team will get 50 lakh rupees! It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. With the BCB having a fixed deposit of Rs 900 crore, the world's fourth richest cricket board cannot be expected to be so stingy. Again, because of Corona, maybe this time the opening of BPL is not being made grand. But how much did BCB spend to organize the opening ceremony of BPL? Compared to that, the amount of prize money is so negligible! Explaining this on Thursday, BPL Governing Council member and BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan said, "You know, this is going to be a one-off event. That's the way to plan. There are a lot of things that we had planned before and BPL had fixed modules ..., long term one we have plans in the future that we will start.

Then maybe these issues can be seen in a bigger way. ' It is claimed that after IPL or BPL is the best! But this time the prize of the champion team in IPL was around 23 crore in Bangladeshi currency. Even the Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions got around Tk 4.5 crore and the prize money of the CPL champions was Rs 6 crore. Not only that, every time there are questions about the quality of competition and broadcasting in BPL. This time prize money was added anew.
