News Desk: Due to the influence of a land depression, there is a possibility of gusty winds over the coastal areas of the country and the North Bay of Bengal. In this situation, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to keep Local Warning Signal No. 3 hoisted.

In a warning issued on Friday (August 14), the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that the land depression located over the coastal area of West Bengal and adjoining areas has moved west-northwestward and is currently situated over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. It may move further west-northwestward and gradually weaken.

However, due to the influence of the depression, gusty winds may sweep across the North Bay of Bengal, seaports and coastal areas of Bangladesh. Therefore, the four seaports have been advised to keep Local Warning Signal No. 3 hoisted. Meanwhile, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal have been advised to remain close to the coast and navigate with caution until further notice.

As there is a possibility of gusty winds, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised everyone, including vessels in the sea and coastal areas, to remain alert.
