News Desk: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has said that almost all of the targets under the current government’s six-month commitments have been fulfilled.

He made the remarks on Friday (August 14) while answering questions from journalists at a briefing in Nayapaltan regarding programmes organized to mark the birth anniversary of former BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Rizvi said that although perhaps 100 percent of the commitments have not been implemented everywhere, 90 or 95 percent have been fulfilled. A written report on how much of the commitments have been implemented during the government’s first six months will be provided.

In response to a question about who will become the next Secretary General of BNP, he said it would be announced according to the party’s decision. There would be no shortcomings in this regard. Journalists would be informed about every step taken by the party.

Rizvi said there was no obligation for Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to resign from the post of BNP Secretary General before taking the oath as president. However, he resigned from the party for ethical reasons.

At the beginning, the BNP Senior Joint Secretary General highlighted the contributions of the party’s late former chairperson. He said prayer gatherings will be held tomorrow at party offices across the country, including Dhaka. A prayer gathering will be held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan at 11 am and at the Gulshan office after Asr prayers. Similarly, prayer gatherings will be held at all party offices across the country under the party’s initiative.
