Trump Says He Wants a Deal with Iran, Not More Bloodshed

News Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would rather resolve tensions in the Middle East through diplomatic negotiations than military conflict, stressing that he wants to avoid bloodshed and reach an agreement with Iran.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said he does not want people to be killed and believes that a negotiated settlement is preferable to war.

His remarks came as indirect talks between the United States and Iran are expected to begin through international mediation. Trump warned that any military conflict would have been devastating for Iran, but said a potential military operation has been put on hold following diplomatic contacts from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Iran, which have opened the door to a possible agreement.

Trump indicated that any future deal would likely be linked to the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and measurable progress toward limiting Iran's nuclear programme. While he declined to set a specific deadline for negotiations, he reiterated that the United States remains prepared to take military action if diplomatic efforts fail.

His comments come amid ongoing regional mediation aimed at easing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and advancing diplomatic efforts surrounding Iran's nuclear activities.
