Bangladesh and China sign four MoUs to strengthen cooperation in the media sector

​News Desk: Four important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between Bangladesh and China with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the media sector, utilizing modern technology, and increasing information exchange.

​The agreements were signed today, Thursday, at the historic 'Great Hall of the People' in Beijing, in the presence of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang.

​Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, who is currently visiting the country, signed the MoUs on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh. On behalf of China, the heads of the state news agency 'Xinhua News Agency' and 'China Media Group' (CMG) signed the agreements. This information was disclosed in a press release received in Dhaka today.

​According to the press release, under these signed MoUs, new opportunities will expand for bilateral cooperation in news and information exchange, long-term partnerships in the media sector, joint research on Global South media, the mutual use of modern technology, and technical cooperation and experience sharing in the broadcasting field.

​The release also stated that these MoUs are expected to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries and open new horizons of mutual cooperation in the media and information sectors.

​It is worth noting that Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan left Dhaka for China on June 23 to join the Prime Minister's official visit. The Prime Minister, along with the delegation, is expected to return home tomorrow night, June 26.
