Preliminary Hajj Registration Begins Tomorrow; Criteria of Applicants Ineligible to Apply

News Desk: Preliminary registration for the 2027 Hajj will begin on July 27 and continue until September 24. Prospective pilgrims must complete their preliminary registration within this period.

The information was announced in a press release issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Sunday (July 26).

According to the release, Bangladesh's Ministry of Religious Affairs has set the schedule in line with the Hajj roadmap announced by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Requirements for Registration

Applicants can complete their preliminary Hajj registration through either the government or private system by depositing Tk 350,000.

Those who complete preliminary registration must pay the remaining package cost and finalize their registration by December 10 this year.

Before preliminary registration, intending pilgrims must complete pre-registration by paying Tk 30,000.

Where Registration Can Be Completed

Under the government system, anyone can register independently by creating a user account on the e-Hajj system (hajj.gov.bd).

Registration can also be completed at Union Digital Centers, divisional and district offices of the Islamic Foundation, district and upazila model mosques, the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office, and the Dhaka Hajj Office.

Government Hajj applicants must deposit the registration fee through a voucher at any branch of Sonali Bank to complete preliminary registration.

Private Hajj applicants, however, must deposit the money into the designated bank account of their Hajj agency. Agency bank account information is available on the Hajj portal under the respective agency's profile.

Who Will Not Be Eligible for Hajj

Anyone under the age of 15 will not be eligible to perform Hajj.

In addition, individuals suffering from serious illnesses such as heart, lung, liver, or kidney disease; neurological or mental disorders; dementia; or cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, biological therapy, or radiotherapy will not be allowed to perform Hajj.

People with active infectious diseases that pose a public health risk, such as tuberculosis and hemorrhagic fever, will also be ineligible.

Women in the final two months of pregnancy or those with high-risk pregnancies will not receive the required medical fitness certificate for Hajj.

During preliminary registration, applicants must provide information on mandatory Hajj training and vaccination, as well as select their district, Hajj type, and Hajj package.

In addition, pilgrims must have a passport that remains valid until December 31, 2027.
