News Desk: World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is May 17. This year's theme of the day is 'Digital Lifestyle: Status in Connectivity, Power in Resilience'. Like other countries of the world, Bangladesh has organized various events throughout the day on the occasion of the day. Besides, a fair has been organized on the occasion of the day.
This year's key message is that digital networks and technology infrastructure can survive natural disasters, cyber attacks or any other disaster and that no one is disconnected.
To mark the day, Department of Posts and Telecommunications (PTD) organized a day-long program at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) building. Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam will inaugurate the programme.
Posts and Telecommunications Department Secretary Bilkis Jahan Rimi will be present as special guests in the event. Prime Minister's Advisor on Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Rehan Asif Asad and ICT Department Secretary Kazi Anwar Hossain will be present as special guests.
BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd.) Emdadul Bari will give a welcome speech at the event. A telecommunication fair will also be organized at the same venue on the occasion of the day.
