Iran has not yet paid a ‘sufficiently high price’: Trump

News Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump, while indicating that he is reviewing Iran’s recent peace proposal, has expressed deep skepticism about reaching any diplomatic agreement with Tehran.

According to a report published from Jerusalem, Trump has claimed that over the past 47 years, for what Iran has done against humanity, it has still not “paid a sufficiently high price.” This statement has reduced the likelihood of any major breakthrough in resolving the deadlock between the two countries and has raised fears of renewed military strikes.

Israeli military officials have stated that they are preparing for a possible U.S. attack on Iran, while it is also believed that Tehran could retaliate by launching strikes against Israel.

Amid this atmosphere of war and diplomatic tension, negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Oman are ongoing, but they are repeatedly facing setbacks. The ongoing conflict, which began on February 28, has seen mutual blockades in the Strait of Hormuz by both sides, severely impacting the global economy and energy markets.

Iran has recently proposed a new 14-point plan demanding the lifting of blockades within 30 days, the removal of sanctions, and an end to hostilities on all fronts, including compensation for war damages. However, Trump has already questioned the acceptability of this proposal on social media.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that Trump must choose between an “impossible military operation” or a “bad deal” with Iran. On the other hand, ahead of the November congressional elections, rising global oil prices and a slowing global economy are creating political challenges for Trump.

In the midst of this tension, Trump has also announced the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Germany following a dispute, raising concerns among the U.S. Congress and allied countries. Overall, the situation in the Middle East now stands at an uncertain and dangerous crossroads.
