Warning from the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka

News Desk: The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has issued a warning regarding individuals traveling to the United States on visitor visas and engaging in employment activities.
In a statement posted on its verified Facebook page on Saturday (May 2), the embassy said that certain business-related activities are allowed while staying in the U.S. on a B1/B2 visitor visa, such as negotiating contracts or attending conferences.
However, it clearly stated that receiving payment for work or working for any U.S. employer while staying in the country on a visitor visa is not permitted.
Previously, the embassy had also said that using a visitor visa for the sole purpose of giving birth in the United States to obtain citizenship for a child is not allowed. If a consular officer believes that this is the primary purpose of travel, the visa application may be denied.
