Bogura Correspondent: To commemorate the BNP’s landslide victory in the 13th National Parliament election, a tree-planting program was held at the C&B Park in Shakpala, Bogura, a memorial park dedicated to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
As part of Tarique Rahman’s announced 25-crore tree-planting initiative, the program was launched in Bogura at 12:00 PM on Saturday for the first time nationwide by Startup Bogura and former students of Bogura Zilla School involved in nationalist politics from various universities.
The program was inaugurated by the chief guest, Bogura District BNP President and former Mayor Rezaul Karim Badsha. Speaking at the event, he said: “The nationwide 25-crore tree-planting plan initiated by their mentor Tarique Rahman is not just a program; it is a pledge toward environmental responsibility and the welfare of future generations. The initiative taken by the students of Bogura will undoubtedly serve as an inspiration across the country.”
He added that during a conversation in London with the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Tarique Rahman had mentioned this park, which at that time was in a very dilapidated condition. Despite the municipality’s interest, it could not restore the park on its own due to road and public space constraints. Through coordinated efforts, the park has now been revitalized, providing a beautiful space where thousands of people walk in the morning and children have a place to play. Badsha emphasized that Tarique Rahman believes in eco-friendly greenery rather than concrete structures, and this approach is being followed in the park’s restoration.
Technical Director Hasan Mahbub of CBRI IBM, responsible for the overall organization, said: “Planned urbanization and environmental conservation must move forward together. Today’s initiative, with the planting of 213 trees, demonstrates that the youth can lead change.”
AKM Ahsan Habib Nafi, President of Enam Medical College Chhatra Dal and a former student of Bogura Zilla School, added: “If the energy of youth is guided properly, nation-building will become more dynamic. We hope this program continues and spreads across the country.”
Mashiar Shafi, President of Startup Bogura, said: “They wanted to take a responsible initiative starting from Bogura. They plan to continue working on startups here and engage in social initiatives. This tree-planting program is also a pledge from their generation toward the future of Bangladesh.”
Other attendees included the organizing committee directors Syed Ahnaf Tajwar, ATM Tawfiqul Islam, Chief Coordinator Abdur Rahman Dian, Zobayer Bin Siddiq, as well as former students of Bogura Zilla School such as AKM Ahsan Habib Nafi (President, Enam Medical College Chhatra Dal), Tawfiq Chowdhury (General Secretary, CUET Chhatra Dal), Gazi Tawfiqur Rahman Chowdhury (Student Welfare Secretary, Chittagong University Chhatra Dal), Al Hasibul Haque, Asif Ul Islam, and many others.
