Polling center chaos in Salta, Faridpur: 3 BNP and Khelafat Majlis leaders detained.

Faridpur Correspondent: In Salta Upazila of Faridpur, three leaders and activists of BNP and Khelafat Majlis have been detained by joint forces on charges of creating disorder at polling centers during the 13th National Parliamentary Election. They were arrested from three different polling center areas in the upazila between 11:00 a.m. and noon on Thursday (February 12).

The detained individuals are identified as: Maulana Md. Amzad Hossain, President of Faridpur District Khelafat Majlis (arrested at Narandia School center), Abul Kalam, General Secretary of Gotti Union BNP (arrested at Joyjhap School center), Md. Robiul, BNP activist (arrested at Yusufdia School center)

Officials at the Salta Army Camp stated that the joint team of the army and police detained them on allegations of attempting ballot fraud and creating disorder at the Joyjhap, Yusufdia, and Narandia School centers. The army said they are determined to ensure uninterrupted voting for voters and will take strict measures against any kind of obstruction.

Upazila Executive Officer and Returning Officer, Md. Saiful Islam said, “Mobile courts and magistrates on duty will take legal action against the detainees. We will crack down firmly on any irregularities to ensure a free and fair election.
