Diplomatic Correspondent: UCSI University Bangladesh, the branch campus of Malaysia’s renowned UCSI University, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PHP Motors Ltd., a subsidiary of the PHP Group. The partnership aims to create opportunities for students through internships, research initiatives, workshops, and other collaborative activities—strengthening the bridge between academic knowledge and real-world experience.
The MoU was officially signed on Thursday (11 December) at the UCSI University Bangladesh hall room in Banani, Dhaka. His Excellency Mohd. Shuhada Othman, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Also present were Md. Akhtar Parvez, Managing Director of PHP Motors Ltd.; Ariful Bari Mazumder, Senior Vice President of UCSI University Bangladesh and Chairman & Managing Director of Insight Institute of Learning; Prof. Dr. Mohd. Kushairi bin Mohd. Rajuddin, Pro Vice-Chancellor of UCSI University Bangladesh; along with faculty members and senior officials from both institutions.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Shah Samiur Rashid, Registrar of UCSI University Bangladesh, and Mr. Tasir Karim, Executive Director of PHP Motors Ltd. The agreement marks a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
In his welcome speech, Prof. Dr. Kushairi highlighted UCSI University’s commitment to academic excellence and expressed confidence that this partnership will be mutually beneficial.
Mr. Md. Akhtar Parvez emphasized that the MoU will open new doors for UCSI students. “We are proud to collaborate with UCSI University, and we consider it our responsibility to support students,” he said. He also spoke about the growing popularity of Malaysia’s Perodua brand vehicles in Bangladesh, PHP Motors’ expanding service network in Dhaka and Chattogram, and their PVS mobile application for ordering spare parts.
Chief Guest Mohd. Shuhada Othman described the agreement as a meaningful development. He noted that the partnership will enhance professional capacities within both institutions and offer Bangladeshi students access to high-quality, internationally aligned education.
The High Commissioner further highlighted that collaborations in student recruitment, training, community engagement, career development, and industry exploration will positively contribute to Bangladesh’s education sector and rapidly growing automotive industry. He added that Malaysian institutions and brands see strong long-term potential in Bangladesh—reflected through this partnership.
Following the signing ceremony, the Malaysian High Commissioner toured various facilities of UCSI University Bangladesh’s branch campus.
