5 Mothers Received the Best Indomitable Woman Award in Burura

Cumilla Correspondent: In Burura, Cumilla, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Begum Rokeya Day 2025, five mothers were awarded the Best Indomitable Woman (Shrestha Adammo Nari) honor at the upazila level, organized by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Women Affairs Directorate. Yesterday, December 9, at 3 PM, the ceremony was held in the Burura Upazila Parishad Conference Room, presided over by Upazila Women Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, with Burura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asaduzzaman Ronnie present as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Burura Upazila Social Services Officer Md. Kamrul Hasan Ronnie, Burura Upazila Education Officer Md. Jahangir Alam, and SI Maksudd Hasan, a representative of the Burura Police Station Officer-in-Charge. Five indomitable women were presented with crests of honor on this day, including Farida Akhter from Bhabgram village, who, through her own efforts and ignoring mental abuse, passed B.A. and was appointed as a primary school teacher. Suniti Rani Biswas, a meritorious daughter of Doghoi village in Payalgachha Union, was appointed to the teaching profession after completing her education, having previously worked as a Nursing and Health Visitor. Mariam Nessa, a daughter-in-law of Bhabanipur village, was born into an aristocratic Muslim family in Paikarchar village of Banchharampur Upazila, Brahmanbaria district; despite possessing much land property after completing her education, she had to overcome many adversities and obstacles to continue her studies. As her land was occupied by tenants for years, she became destitute but prepared herself as an indomitable soldier in the battle of life, passing Matric (SSC) while lodging in various places; her father-in-law had passed FA during the British era, and later, due to her sick mother, she took a job as a primary school teacher in Narayanganj. Arati Rani Biswas, born in Daulatpur village of Laxmipur Union, joined the nursing profession out of a desire to serve the sick and bring smiles to people's faces alongside her studies, and subsequently served in health complexes in various upazilas; although currently retired, she remains dedicated to serving people. Salma Begum from Dhanishwar village was married at the age of 17; she lived through financial hardship after marriage and later created self-employment by establishing a farm to alleviate the financial crisis; she is currently self-reliant and significantly contributing to unemployment reduction in the area, possessing 26 cows, 32 goats, 50 pigeons, 20 ducks, 16 tiger chickens, and various other livestock and animals on one bigha of land.
