Sadik-Farhad Assume DUCSU Leadership; Five Student Representatives Elected to Senate

News Desk: The first executive meeting of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) for 2025 was held on Sunday, 14 September, officially marking the start of the newly elected representatives’ tenure. The meeting took place in a room adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor’s office and was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niyaz Ahmed Khan.

Present at the meeting were Vice-President (VP) Md. Abu Sadik (Sadik Kayem), General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad, Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Mohiuddin Khan, along with other elected representatives.

Following the meeting, it was announced that five student representatives have been nominated to the Dhaka University Senate. They are DUCSU VP Sadik Kayem, GS SM Farhad, AGS Mohiuddin Khan, the highest-vote winner among members Sabikunnahar Tamanna, and Transport Secretary Asif Abdullah.

VP Sadik Kayem said after the meeting, “With this session, our formal activities have begun. Students will question us, and we are committed to fulfilling our promises. No one lost in this election; we will work together. Our action plan will be released soon, and we aim to implement all our pledges.”

In the 9 September elections, candidates from the United Student Alliance backed by Islami Chhatra Shibir won 23 of the 28 posts, including the top three positions. DUCSU General Secretary SM Farhad had shared details of the first executive meeting in a press release issued the following Saturday.
