News Desk: Voting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Student Union (JUCSU) and Hall Union elections, held after a long gap of 33 years, has concluded.
The polling began at 9:00 AM on Thursday, September 11, and ended at 5:00 PM. The results are now awaited following the vote counting.
In the election, students participated under eight panels, including Chhatra Dal, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Chatra Sangha (BAGCS), Islami Chhatra Shibir, left-leaning organizations, and independent candidates. However, the panel supported by Chhatra Dal boycotted the election, citing multiple reasons including alleged irregularities.
This year, a total of 11,897 voters were eligible to cast their votes. Approximately 548 candidates competed for positions in the central and hall unions, while 102 candidates were elected unopposed, reducing the total number of contestants. Voting took place across 224 booths in 21 halls, with 11 booths designated for male students and 10 for female students.
