International Desk: Just a day after launching armed attacks on several areas of Pakistan including Azad Kashmir and Punjab, India has struck again. According to a report by The Express Tribune, on Thursday morning (May 8), Indian forces carried out an attack in Gujranwala, located in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Following the explosion, an Indian drone was successfully shot down. After two loud mid-air explosions were heard in the morning, the air defense system deployed in the Gujranwala Cantonment area was activated and successfully intercepted an Indian drone attempting to violate Pakistani airspace.
Military sources reported that the drone was flying at a high altitude and tried to enter Pakistani territory. The air defense system in the Gujranwala Cantonment responded immediately, targeting the drone and shooting it down.
Sources further stated that as the drone entered city airspace, the cantonment's defense systems activated at once, and it was brought down with at least two rounds of fire. The wreckage of the downed drone later fell near Dinga village in the Gujrat district.
Police sources confirmed that following reports of the crash, a joint team of security forces and police arrived at the scene and recovered the wreckage from the fields of Pir Jhanda village. The remains were seized for forensic analysis to determine the model and origin of the drone.
Fortunately, no casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure have been reported. Authorities are currently investigating the nature of the drone and the purpose of the airspace violation.
