Latest Updates Regarding Tarique Rahman's Return to Bangladesh

News Desk: After four months, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has returned to Bangladesh from London today. Along with her, the party's Standing Committee member Dr. A.Z.M. Jahid Hossain has also returned. Upon her arrival, she quickly hinted at the potential return of Tarique Rahman to the country.

On Tuesday (May 6), while speaking to the press at her residence in Gulshan, Khaleda Zia’s physician gave this indication in response to a journalist's question.

Dr. Jahid Hossain, who is also a personal doctor to Khaleda Zia, said, "Zubaida Rahman has returned. For 17 years, the government did not allow her to come. Their daughter, Zaimma Rahman, recently participated in a political event in the United States. InshAllah, that day is not far off—acting party chairperson Tarique Rahman will return and lead on the field."

He further added, "The leadership he is providing from Britain, not only for BNP but for the restoration of democracy, will see him return to the country shortly."

Responding to a question about Zubaida Rahman, Dr. Jahid mentioned that she had returned with Khaleda Zia. He noted that time will tell how long she stays in the country, but she will return soon after making arrangements with her husband and daughter.

Begum Khaleda Zia had gone to London in January for advanced medical treatment. She returned to Bangladesh on Tuesday (May 6) in an air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar, after completing her treatment. Throughout her time in London, Dr. Jahid Hossain, Khaleda Zia’s doctor, was with her.

Upon her return to Bangladesh, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed gratitude and greetings to the people of the country. Dr. Jahid Hossain added that although the 17-hour journey had physically exhausted her, she was mentally in good health. He also mentioned that Khaleda Zia still wants to stand by the people of Bangladesh as she always has.
