Khaleda Zia Returns to Bangladesh from London

News Desk: After a long four months, Khaleda Zia has returned to Bangladesh from London. She is accompanied by her two daughters-in-law and nine members of the medical board.

At 10:40 AM on Tuesday (May 6), the Qatar Royal Air Ambulance carrying Khaleda Zia landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

It is reported that Khaleda Zia will head directly to her residence, ‘Firoza,’ in Gulshan via road. Security has already been heightened in and around the residence. The security arrangements include the presence of the army and various law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with members of the party’s National Standing Committee, will welcome Khaleda Zia and her two daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, at the Dhaka airport. Additionally, BNP leaders and workers have gathered at the airport since the morning to greet Khaleda Zia. Party members, holding party flags and the national flag, have positioned themselves on both sides of the road, chanting various slogans.

Earlier, at 1:30 PM local time in London, Khaleda Zia’s elder son and BNP’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, drove his mother to Heathrow Airport while sitting beside her in the car. Tarique Rahman’s daughter, Zaima Rahman, was seated behind her grandmother. The airport was already filled with thousands of leaders and workers holding placards and banners.

It’s worth noting that Khaleda Zia traveled to London for advanced treatment on January 8, 2023, using a special air ambulance arranged by the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. She was hospitalized at The Clinic in London until January 24. After 17 days of treatment, she was moved to Tarique Rahman’s residence on January 25. The 79-year-old former Prime Minister has been suffering from various physical ailments, including liver cirrhosis, kidney issues, heart problems, diabetes, and arthritis
