IT Desk:  The heat is almost here. Many people have started using ACs now. Many are planning to get rid of their old ACs and buy new ones this year. Be careful if you have an old AC at home. If you run the AC for a long time, some tasks will not be able to be done at all.

Let's find out what they are-

Not cleaning the filter: This will reduce the airflow of the AC, reduce cooling, and increase electricity consumption.

Turning it on suddenly and setting it to a low temperature: This puts extra stress on the compressor and can cause it to break down quickly.

Not checking wiring and gas leakage: This can result in AC damage or electrical hazards.

Running the AC directly at high power after leaving it off for a long time: This can damage the AC motor and compressor.

Things to do before turning on the AC:

1. Clean the outdoor unit.
Check the outdoor unit for dust, dirt, leaves, or other debris. If there is any dirt on the fan blades, wipe them off with a soft brush or damp cloth.

2. Clean the filter.
If the unit is not used for a long time, a lot of dust can accumulate in the filter, which can block the air flow. Remove the filter, wash it with water and dry it, or install a new filter if necessary.

3. Clean the indoor unit.
If there is dust on the vents and blower of the indoor unit, clean them. Wipe the front of the AC with a soft cloth.

4. Check for gas leakage.
Before running the AC for a long time, make sure that there is no gas leakage. If there is a shortage of gas, the AC will not cool properly and the compressor may be damaged.

5. Check the wiring and connections.
Check if the power connection is good or not, and if the wire line is damaged. If any wire is frayed or does not feel as good as before, seek the help of an electrician.

6. Check the remote control and battery.
Sometimes the remote's battery dies, so install new batteries.

7. Test run:
When running for the first time, run it in fan mode or ventilation mode for a while to remove any dust that has accumulated inside. Then slowly switch to cool mode.
