News Desk:  Nahid Islam, the advisor in charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, resigned on Tuesday (February 25). Since then, Mahfuz Alam's name has been being discussed for the post. 

The notification said that the office of Mahfuz Alam was distributed by the chief advisor of the interim government.

Although the responsibility of one ministry under the resigned Nahid Islam has been distributed, the responsibility of another ministry, namely the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, has not yet been given to anyone.

The Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina fell in a student uprising on August 5. Mahfuz Alam, who played an important role in that movement, was the coordinator of the Liaison Committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.  

On August 8, when the interim government was formed under the leadership of Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Mahfuz Alam was made special assistant to the chief advisor. Mahfuz Alam was sworn in as the advisor on November 10. However, he has not been given any specific ministry responsibility so far.

Mahfuz Alam was a law student at Dhaka University in the 2015-16 academic year.
