News Desk: From time immemorial, the livestock sector has been playing an important role in alleviating human unemployment, alleviating poverty, meeting nutritional needs and empowering women. Poultry, poultry, pigeon, cow, goat, sheep rearing has now become more transformed and expanded as a modern farming industry. In the last 2018-2019 financial year, the contribution of the livestock sector to the country's GDP was about 1.53 percent. But in the Corona situation, like other sectors, the industry has stumbled a bit. In particular, the marketing of animal products such as meat, milk, eggs, processed foods, dairy products, etc. has been disrupted. As a result, many farms and commercial entrepreneurs have suffered financial losses. According to the Economic Survey 2019, the unemployment rate in the country is 4.19 percent. Many people have become unemployed in the country during the Corona period, whose daily income is only 180 rupees or 1.9 dollars. From March to May, the average family income decreased by 74 percent.

In this uncomfortable situation, keeping cows, goats, ducks, chickens and turkeys can show the way to light to the unemployed people. In the current market, the maximum price of a calf producing improved breeds of meat or milk is 35-36 thousand Taka. If a meat producing 6 month old calf is reared for 3 months then the maximum cost for food and other expenses for 3 calves in 3 months can be 20-25 thousand Taka. After 3 months of rearing, the price of each of these cows will be 80-90 thousand Taka. In other words, the total purchase of five calves is 1 lakh 75 thousand to 1 lakh 90 thousand Taka. The total cost of rearing five cows including 20-25 thousand Taka is 2 lakh to 2 lakh 10 thousand Taka. On the other hand, the current market price of five cows is 4 lakh to 4 lakh 50 thousand Taka. In other words, the net profit in 3 months is 2 lakh to 2 lakh 25 thousand Taka. As a result, the monthly income stands at 72 thousand to 75 thousand Taka.

If the unemployed community of the country pays attention to this issue, their frustration of unemployment will decrease and the country's animal nutrition and economy will be prosperous. Buffalo or cattle farm is a potential sector for milk production. Besides, there is ample opportunity for export by increasing the production of meat and eggs. According to the Youth Policy-2019, the youth community in the country includes young people between the ages of 18 and 35. At present there are 5.5 crore young men and women in the country. If a part of them can be involved in the huge potential livestock sector by providing encouragement, motivation and a little basic training, then it is possible to earn huge amount of foreign exchange by increasing the production of meat, eggs, milk and meeting the demand of the country.

There is a huge demand for processed foods such as liquid milk, yogurt, cheese, ice cream, butter, lamb, chicken, beef, mutton etc. In the implementation of Vision-2021 and Vision-2041, the huge potential livestock sector must be transformed into an export-oriented sector. This requires government patronage and public-private joint ventures. At present, beef is sold at Tk 550 per kg and mutton at Tk 750 per kg in the country. By increasing production, on the one hand, it will be possible to meet the nutritional needs of the common man by reducing the price of meat, on the other hand, it will also be possible to export. There is no substitute for animal nutrition in building a healthy and meritorious nation. In order to ensure that skilled and talented manpower is required to build a developed and modern country, it is necessary to provide the necessary animal meat.
