Allegations of corruption against the former head of Maghbazar Girls

News Desk: Former headmaster (acting) Khurshid Khanam of Magbazar Girls High School in the capital has been accused of corruption and recruitment trade. The members of the governing board of the school lodged the complaint in various departments and agencies including the regulatory body, the Ministry of Education. According to the complaint, Khurshid Khanam is acting headmaster illegally. Recently, under the signature of SM Saifuzzaman Badsha, a member of the School Managing Committee, Tk 10,46,794 has been withdrawn from Uttara Bank Limited and Tk 89,98,500 from Jamuna Bank Limited. Despite Khurshid Khanam's tenure expiring on April 14 this year, the current managing committee chairman SM Saifuzzaman Badshah wrote a letter to Jamuna Bank Limited's Mirpur branch on May 20 this year stating the six-year term of FDR of Maghbazar Girls High School.

For the purpose, Jamuna Bank Limited (Women's Branch) applied for transfer to New Bailey Road Branch. Khurshid Khanam was given the responsibility of the headmaster but he was forcibly removed - he made a false allegation to the Dhaka Board of Education. Then on 12 June 2018, the then Dhaka Board School Inspector Pritish Kumar Sarkar signed an order and forcibly took over the principal's chair along with some teachers. A case in this regard is pending in the court, the chargesheet said. The complaint further said that Khurshid Khanam illegally called a meeting of the ad hoc committee as the acting headmaster of the school illegally and illegally for the purpose of dismissing the headmistress (acting) Selina Hossain.

The Managing Committee of the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education disobeyed the regulations-2009 and approved the name of SM Saifuzzaman Badshah as the chairman of the managing committee. Although the former acting headmaster has passed the age limit, he is still working as a teacher. Denying the allegations, Khurshid Khanam said, "One or two members of the managing committee are making false allegations against me for not being able to pursue their own interests." All the allegations are false and fabricated. ' Regarding the fundraising, he said, "We have to raise money because we need money to run the organization. The chairman alone cannot raise any money, all the money has been withdrawn with the signature of the chairman of the committee.

' Khurshid Khanam further said that teachers have been appointed as per the rules, no irregularities have been committed. Besides, at present he has been retained as a mathematics teacher by the will of the committee. Professor Mansur Bhuiyan, school inspector of Dhaka Board of Education, said, "We have received several allegations against some people, including the former acting principal of Maghbazar Girls' High School, including financial irregularities and recruitment trade." The Dhaka District Education Officer has been assigned to investigate the matter. After receiving the report, action will be taken in this regard.
