Prices of Daily Commodities will Come to a Reasonable Level: Minister of State for Commerce

News Desk: State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said that the price of daily commodities in the market will come to a reasonable level. For this, Directorate of Agricultural Marketing, Directorate of Consumer Affairs, District Commissioner, Upazila Executive Officer will coordinate together.

He said these things to the journalists at the end of the discussion program organized by the Ministry of Commerce at TCB Bhawan in the capital on Sunday (March 17) at 12 noon on the occasion of the 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The State Minister said that the Department of Agriculture Marketing has fixed a price for the product. This department has its own district, upazila and central level committees. As we monitor the market we will start monitoring in coordination. Price discovery is not instantaneous. Our responsibility will be market monitoring from producer stage to wholesale and then retail stage.

Stating that there is no lack of coordination in product price control, the state minister said that when you decide on a thing at the logical level, you cannot implement it immediately. It was important to determine this first. The law was there for a long time but was not implemented. We will now coordinate with Directorate of Agriculture Marketing, Directorate of Consumer Affairs, UNO, DC. Hopefully it will come to a logical level.

Ahsanul Islam Titu said, wherever we go, we are sitting with the market committee, we are sitting with the traders, we are encouraging them. We are implementing it (selling products at the right price) by solving their problems. We are not closing or locking any stores anywhere. Who do not obey the law at all. For example, when selling from wholesale to retail, you need to keep the receipt. You will need to give a receipt when you make a wholesale invoice. These things are called absolute minimum compliance. If we don't do these things we are penalized.
