In Ramadan, consumers are in trouble due to the fire in the market of daily commodities due to dishonest traders

Gopalpur representative: Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the prices of daily commodities have become unstable in the various markets of Gopalpur upazila of Tangail. Buyers are in trouble. Gopalpur has visited various markets and markets, and seen that the traders are selling almost all the daily necessities at high prices suddenly with miraculous power. Sellers are charging their own prices.

As if the month of Ramadan has not started, I know that the laughter of laying golden eggs has come to them. Common people including buyers said that there is no surveillance from the administration. Since the beginning of Ramadan, the vegetable market has been on the rise. Overnight the prices have gone up and the buyers are rushing to cut their throats. Within a day, the price has increased by Tk 10 to Tk 20 per kg.

At present, small eggplants are being sold at Tk 60, medium and round eggplants at Tk 70 per kg. Besides tomato 30-40, carrot 50-60 taka, papaya 30-40 taka, bitter gourd 90-110 taka, lemon 40-50 taka, dry chili 480-500 taka, gourd (depending on size) 50-60 taka, potal 120 taka, cucumber 50-80 taka, watermelon 60-90 taka, bell size up to 60-250 taka, desi garlic is being sold at taka 140-150. On the other hand, desi onion is 60-90 taka per kg in the retail market.

Besides, poultry chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 50-55. Here the price of each product has increased up to 10-20 rupees. Also, Cardinal potatoes are being sold at Tk 30, Shil potatoes at Tk 50, Bogra white pakri potatoes at Tk 40 and granules at Tk 35-40. In the retail market, raw chillies are being sold at Tk 90 a jump from Tk 60 and domestic ginger at Tk 220-240 per kg. However, the vendors said that the demand for brinjal increased during the month of Ramadan, but the prices increased due to low imports. Looking around the market, open sugar is Tk 150-160, packet flour is Tk 60-65, open flour Tk 48-50, chickpea Tk 100-120, flour packet Tk 70, lentil (medium) Tk 120, chicken 135- 140 taka, mugdal is selling at taka 170-180 and bootdal at taka 110 per kg.

Dates are Tk 190-300 per kg. A slightly better date ranges from Tk 300-850. Beshan 120-140 per kg. Ishubgul husk is now being sold at Tk 2500-3500 per kg in the market overnight. In the retail market, broiler chickens are priced at Tk 230-250, while Pakistani chickens are priced at Tk 320-350. Beef is being sold at Tk 680 to Tk 750 and goat meat at Tk 900-1000 per kg. In the retail market, one liter of bottled soybean is selling at Tk 173 and two liters at Tk 346 and open soybean oil at Tk 160-180. Depending on the size, cotton fish Tk 250-350, Mrigel Tk 220-250, Carp Tk 200-220, Pangas Tk 190-220, Tilapia Tk 150-160, Cuttlefish Tk 400-450, Bata Tk 160-180, Horn Tk 400-700, Silver Carp is being sold at Tk 180-250 and Hilsa at Tk 800-1200 per kg. The ordinary buyers who come to market in different markets of Gopalpur upazila expressed their anger and said, "I can't do it anymore, I want to die with a rope around my neck! I can't keep my head straight in the market."

 Again, the behavior of the traders when they ask for a little price is beyond words. People of various professions including autorickshaw and autocar drivers, laborers and daily wage laborers said that the price of every daily commodity is increasing. Just heard it's being syndicated. We want to remedy this with administrative oversight. Gopalpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner of Lands and Upazila Executive Officer in charge Md. Nazmul Hasan said that we constantly supervise our market, and conduct mobile courts regularly.
