News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was elected as the President of Turkey for the third consecutive term. Erdoğan called him at 11:30 on Wednesday night and spoke for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina congratulated the re-elected President of Turkey.

Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary-2 A.B.M. Sarwar-e-Alam government has confirmed this. The press secretary said that the two leaders exchanged pleasantries over the phone and talked to each other for 10 minutes. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated Turkey's re-elected president for winning the second round of elections, where voter turnout was above 86 percent. At the same time, he expressed joy at the confidence of the Turkish people in electing the right leader, which was proven after the run-off election.

Sheikh Hasina said on the phone that the people of Bangladesh will stand by the fraternal people of Turkey in any need like the earthquake of February 2023. Expressing his gratitude, President Erdoğan said that the brotherly people of Bangladesh have mentally won the second round of elections with the excited people of Turkey. He thanked the people of Bangladesh and wished for stronger relations between the two countries. Erdoğan reiterated his desire to work with Sheikh Hasina to take the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Turkey to new heights.

Sheikh Hasina congratulated President Erdoğan and his family members and said that through him peace, progress and prosperity will continue for the people of Turkey. Incidentally, Erdoğan came close to victory by getting 49.5 percent of the votes in the first round of voting held in Turkey on May 14. Next was Kilicdaroglu. His vote was 44.8 percent. But by winning Sunday's election, Erdogan, who has been at the center of Turkey's power for the past two decades, has the opportunity to lead the country for another five years as president.
