Physical remand canceled in 12 cases of Imran Khan

International Desk: The Lahore High Court has canceled the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in 12 cases. On Thursday, a two-member bench of the High Court consisting of Justice Tariq Salim and Justice Anwarul Haque heard the petition against Imran Khan's physical remand in 12 cases. Prosecutor General of Punjab presented arguments in the case.  During the hearing, the Prosecutor General of Punjab requested to dismiss Imran Khan's plea.

The Prosecutor General of Punjab told the court that if the remand is cancelled, our investigation will be damaged and the court should dismiss the pleas. The mobiles from which the tweets were made should also be seized. 

Justice Tariq Salim Sheikh commented that the ATC judge should have examined whether remand was necessary or not. Punjab's Prosecutor General said Section 121 would be a sedition case, to which the court said the Lahore High Court had struck down the section.

Later, the court while disposing of Imran Khan's application against physical remand declared the physical remand as null and also canceled the notice of appearance through video link. Earlier, the police informed the court about the progress of the investigation regarding the involvement of Imran Khan in the incident of violence on May 9 last year.

The police requested an extension of physical remand to continue their investigation. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested by the police in Adiala Jail in 12 cases related to the May 9 violence.
