International Desk: Iran will soon launch a hypersonic ballistic missile made of its own technology, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said.
Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the army's aerospace division, made the announcement in Tehran on Monday. Khabar Al-Arabia. He said the successful test of the hypersonic missile has been completed and it will be unveiled soon.
The missile is capable of penetrating any type of air defense system and hitting the enemy's missile defense system. He described the construction of this missile as a 'significant achievement' in protecting the country's security. Hajizadeh said the supersonic hypersonic missile has the ability to travel through the surface atmosphere as well as beyond it.
Hypersonic missiles can travel through the atmosphere at five times the speed of normal sound. As a result, it is not possible for any air defense system to detect such missiles. Earlier, General Hajizadeh had announced in November last year a hypersonic missile developed entirely on its own technology.
He said, the missile is capable of penetrating the enemy's air defense system and hitting the desired target. Iran successfully test-fired an intermediate-range missile last Tuesday. The missile is named Khyber and carries a 1,500 kg warhead capable of hitting targets 2,000 km away.
