International Desk: The United States and Canada are going to tighten the border for refugees seeking immigration. US President Joe Biden made the announcement at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday while visiting Canada.
Earlier there was an agreement between the two countries to facilitate the movement of refugees across the border.
As a result of that agreement, asylum seekers could travel freely through the connecting road between the US state of New York and the Canadian province of Quebec.
A record number of refugees have entered Canada on this border route since 2017, according to the country's police department.
It should be noted that Joe Biden went to Canada with his wife Jill Biden on a two-day state visit last Thursday. During the visit, Joe Biden discussed various issues including border security with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
