International Desk: 34 immigration candidates are missing in the boat sinking incident off the coast of Tunisia. They are all natives of the sub-Saharan region. BBC reported this news in a report on Saturday (March 25).
This led to the sinking of five migrant boats in two days. The news of the death of 7 people has been confirmed. The total number of missing is 67.
Local authorities believe the boats were headed for Italy. The Tunisian coast guard reported stopping 56 boats bound for Italy in the last two days.
The country's National Guard said that they have detained more than 3,000 people while trying to leave the country illegally.
Incidentally, Tunisia is an important place for Africans to cross to Europe. Many people tried to reach Italy by boat from the coast of the country.
