School student beaten up for protesting eve teasing

Ramzan Ali, Satkaniya Chittagong: A girl student of Ashshefa School and College in Keranihat of Satkaniyaz Upazila was eve-teased by a naughty boy of Kenochia Union, Ariful Islam Tushar. Riyad Hossain Fahim (16), a 10th class student of that school, was beaten to death for protesting. Fahim was rescued by the local crowd and taken to the hospital for treatment. This incident happened on Monday afternoon in front of Ashshefa School and College in Keranihat. Mohammad Yasin Arfat Babul, the father of the school student injured in the incident filed a written complaint with the Satkania police station as the plaintiff.

Ariful Islam Tushar (20), son of Abdul Alam of Ward No. 7 of Kenochia Union, 10/12 people including Mohammad Tuhin of the same area were made unknown defendants in the complaint. According to the source of the incident, Tushar molested a student of the same school on February 16 at noon. The matter was informed by Principal Ismail Md Rashed on behalf of the school to Rokeya Begum, a reserved ward member of Fufi Kenochia Union Parishad of Tushar. But due to no action being taken by the family against the bullies, when Fahim came out of the school after completing the model test on Monday at around 1:30 p.m., the miscreants who were already in the vicinity of the school gate stopped Fahim and beat him severely. Fahim fell on the ground with a bloody head.

Later, the local people came forward and rescued the injured Fahim and admitted him to the hospital. In this regard, Ashshefa School and College Management Committee member and the president of Kerani Hat Progressive Traders Cooperative Society Limited, Master Zainal Abedin said, strict action should be taken against those who do this kind of eve teasing of schoolgirls on the street. In this regard, the officer in charge of Satkania police station Mohammad Yasir Arafat said, I sent the police to the spot after receiving a complaint of beating a school student. We will take legal action in this regard.
